James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University and Helen Keller International (HKI) implement the Food Security and Nutrition Surveillance Project (FSNSP) under financing from The European Union. The FSNSP, in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh monitors the food security, nutrition and health status of children and women in Bangladesh and promotes the use of this information for policy and program development and advocacy at the national and sub-national levels. The FSNSP is looking to fill the position of Training Coordinator:

Training Coordinator: FSNSP is a technical project that requires the participation of skilled, dedicated, highly motivated and technically competent staff. Extensive and high quality of training is essential to meet the demand. All training session will be conducted under broad categories as – basic training for FSNSP staff (especially data collector, monitoring staff, quality control staff, data entry management staff, etc), refreshers training, training of trainers (TOT), and advanced training for professional staff.

Responsibilities: The Training Coordinator will be responsible to carry out the following duties:

  • Develop a training calendar for the project so that it can be conducted in a systematic manner;
  • Coordinate and maintain contacts to internal and external resource persons to be used for the training;
  • Regularly review training curriculum with relevant resource persons to ensure a consistently high quality and up to date training program;
  • Conduct training need assessment for the core project staff and recommend them for suitable training courses in different organizations;
  • Organize need based internal trainings/workshops to develop the capacity of project staff;
  • Arrange and participate in cross visits to other projects and organizations of interest of the project’s learning process;
  • In consultation with Project Director prepare annual training budget as per training calendar and ensure that training is conducted in a timely and cost effective manner;
  • Conduct training need assessment of the project with the help of technical staff members;
  • Develop training module, schedule, curriculum and lecture sheets etc; on nutrition survey interview and data collection;
  • Develop training module on gender aspect for staff, group leaders and household members and facilitate training to create a gender sensitive working environment for all;
  • Organize and conduct different training/workshop/seminars as per needs of the project;
  • Follow up and supervise all trainings at field level that are delivered properly and accurately;
  • Get the feedback from the technical team and incorporate those in next courses for further development of the program;
  • Develop different training materials, case studies, special guidelines etc for the development of the project;
  • Prepare reports on different trainings, workshops and seminars time to time and submit it the Project Director;
  • Review impacts of training jointly with other trainers and initiate follow-up training or refreshers as appropriate;
  • Total coordination of training including arrangements of logistics, finance and administration;
  • Help, coordinate and evaluate the Pilot testing program for the use of Personal Digital Assistant (PDAs) to collect data. Adjust training as per findings from evaluation.

Experience/Skills Needed

  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Documented leadership experience
  • Must have experience with interviews and data collection
  • Must be able to work with others and coordinate a large field based team
  • Will need good communication skills as well as fluency in English (both verbal and written)
  • Will need experience with MS Office and should be comfortable with computer databases

Education: Masters in Public Health is preferred but persons with other relevant work experience will also be considered
